Proving Des Moines is NOT boring

What is a Startup Job Crawl?

While Des Moines’ startup scene has gained plenty of traction in 2011, it has also gained plenty of curiosity by those asking.. “what is this all about?”  Much of that has been highlighted along the way with great events produced such as Startup Drinks, Techbrew, and ThincIowa, among others that have been open to the public.  Next week will take another step in a new direction.

Silicon Prairie News has announced its first ever Startup Job Crawl to take place next Wednesday, the 16th.  The idea is simple, reach out to our up and coming talent in Iowa’s universities and let them experience first hand what a startup work environment is like.  What they’ll immediately notice is that there is no one-size-fits-all model to the startup’s home base.  Some have their own offices, some do not, some take advantage of coworking environments, some are on-the-go meeting with clients, and others can complete a full business day from the corner of a coffee shop.

Either way, the students who take advantage will notice one common thread between all startups involved:  they have the ability to change the world right now with the technology they’re building in Des Moines.  It’s an open-door next Wednesday along what is now being termed “Silicon Sixth Avenue”.  The ‘crawl’ starts at 5pm, college students looking to attend for free can register now.
