Hearing the term “Science Fair for Grown-ups” makes me immediately proud to be a part of this. However it gets interpreted by those who attend, it’s going to be one more step for the Startup community not just here in Des Moines, but across the state. The newly formed StartupIowa, Iowa’s own collaborative division of the Startup America Partnership (that just happened to be present at one of the best Techbrew‘s last month), has been coordinating the upcoming Iowa Startup Fair.
“The first-ever Iowa Startup Fair is coming on Tuesday, January 31st from 3 to 6 pm. Startups from across Iowa will set up informational tables in several regions to showcase their projects for an audience of business, investment, civic, and other community members.
The event is taking place in four regions around the state: Des Moines (Midland, Bank of America, and Liberty buildings downtown); Cedar Rapids/Iowa City (Vault Coworking & Collaboration Space); Pella (Central College Graham Conference Center); and Cedar Falls (Far Reach Technologies).”
Business complications worldwide are being resolved right now by many of the new technologies springing up here in Iowa. This is one more opportunity to connect with the corporate and business community, in addition to the investors and technology followers who will be coming through on the 31st.
Anyone who has been attending events like the latest Dwolla meet-ups or ThincIowa, or have been following up on some of the latest developments coming out of our startup scene get to stop down and check out what’s going on. For Startups still looking to get involved and display what they’re building, booth space is free (while available). Registration is online, I just did mine for eDossea this week and it took about 10 seconds.
