Having Wells Fargo Arena in our town has opened up so much opportunity to host different musicians and sporting events. This March Des Moines will be hosting the NCAA Division I Regional Finals for collegiate women’s basketball. The winner of our regional final will advance to the NCAA Final Four championship in Denver. Hosting the regional finals will be a big boost for our community as many people will travel to Des Moines to see the prestigious NCAA tournament.
I encourage you to go out and support the women participating in this tournament. Not just any city can host an NCAA regional final, and the support that our community shows for this event will determine if Des Moines will host future NCAA tournaments of this caliber. We have great collegiate teams around Des Moines, yet this event lends the opportunity to see other great women’s basketball teams from around the nation.
The event will also have a significant impact on the future of our great city. Imagine hosting other NCAA events like we did last year with the NCAA Track & Field Championships last summer. Think about how important the revenue from those events will impact our local businesses and our economy.
Tickets are now on sale. Prices are $45.00 (adult) and $42.00 (student/senior) for sideline seating and $25.00 (adult) and $22.00 (student/senior) for end zone seating. Only all-session tickets are available. All-session passes include one session Saturday at 11 a.m. and one session Monday at 6 p.m., a total of three games. You can purchase your tickets through the NCAA website, by visiting the Wells Fargo Arena ticket office, or by calling 866-55-DAHLS.
