The East Village has recently welcomed another gem of a shop to it’s neighborhood.  Leona Ruby is a new jewelry boutique on the corner of Walnut and East 6th.  It’s the perfect mix of baubles; the jewelry you’ll find here comes from all over-from local Des Moines talent, to jewelry makers around the world, to the high end Elizabeth and James-created by famous twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson.  It makes for a fun experience while browsing, it seems as if there is a story behind every single piece, and owner Ellen Martinson was more than happy to share.  It’s the perfect addition to the East Village area; although there are other boutiques nearby that have some jewelry in their shop, this is entirely what Leona Ruby sells.  The store carries a variety of styles of jewelry, from funky bright colored earrings to dainty silver necklaces.  Everything is displayed in a simple and organized way, and while there are a lot of pretty things to look at, you don’t feel overwhelmed.  Whether you want a unique present for a friend, or want to treat yourself to a little sparkle, Leona Ruby is a great new spot to shop for both.
