Proving Des Moines is NOT boring

Flight School Wine Tastings

We thought this is a great opportunity for a not boring experience in Des Moines. I know I could use a little schooling in the art of pairing wine with a great meal. For those who are also interested in learning, Zachary Mannheimer has just the class.

Sommelier Zachary Mannheimer presents a 2-hour class and tasting on some of the best wines from around the world. Focusing on exotic grapes and regions, you will be led through a multiple course tasting with wine, producer and regional facts that are both interesting and educational.

Treat your friends, family, colleagues, employees or dinner guests to a unique experience. Classes are often run before dinner at your home or elsewhere. We can also explain each wine throughout a meal, course by course, should you choose to pair them with food. You choose the venue from our list of options or suggest your own. Each guest will receive a personalized menu including all wines and cuisines tasted along with an informative description.

If you are looking for Napa Cabs and Chardonnays, this is not the tasting for you. We purposely introduce you to grapes you’ve never heard of, and from regions you may not have tasted. Spanish MenciaGreek Xinomauvro and Italian Verdicchio are the norm at Carpe Vino. Come explore the world of wine and discover new and exciting ways to celebrate.

Flight School provides daily wine tips via their Facebook page. If you are interested in learning more about Zachary’s wine experience you can read his pieces with the DSM Magazine.
