Proving Des Moines is NOT boring

Fashionation

The Des Moines fashion scene will be highlighted this weekend, Saturday October 1st, with dsm Magazine’s 3rd annual Fashionation event.  A runway show will feature models wearing clothing from 16 local stores, including Bella Boutique, Dornick, Badowers, Cownie Furs, Impromptu, Fusion, Scheels, Bargain Basket, Mainstream Boutique, The Funky Zebras, Sahar’s, Mint L.A., Vogue Vision, Fabrik, Back Country Outfitters, and Langel & Woods.  The event is free and open to the public-no ticket is needed; doors open at 6:30 pm with the fashion show starting at 8 pm.  The Tuscany Event Center at 3901 NW 121st in Urbandale is home to this year’s Fashionation.  Come out and support the Des Moines fashion scene!

Having just gotten back from attending several runway shows at New York Fashion Week, I’m thrilled to see this important event returning to Des Moines.  As I often showcase on this blog, our city is full of great shopping.  From independently owned boutiques to well known retail stores, both are helping to support a growing fashion scene in our city.  I would love to see more attention given in Des Moines to local and independent designers who are creating new and unique clothing and accessories-these people have the talent and creativity that bring a whole Fashion Week alive…which I hope to see someday here in Des Moines.
