Up-Down: A Des Moines Arcade Bar Open Now

Up-Down, a Des Moines arcade bar located at 500 E. Locust, boasts  more than 40 arcade games from the ‘80s and ‘90s  including classics like Atari’s Centipede, Crusi’n USA, Ms. Pacman, X-Men, NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Asteroids, Mario Bros., Street Fighter, and oddities such as Revolution X, a rail shooter game featuring Aerosmith. Up-Down will also have six pinball games and three skee ball alleys. Special tournaments and leagues will be held regularly. All games will cost just 25 cents.

Up-Down will feature a drink menu of ‘80s/’90s-inspired cocktails and an extensive beer selection with 20 beers on tap. The arcade bar will also show select ‘80s and ‘90s programming on televisions throughout the space.

Renovations to the bar, which was previously occupied by The Underground, included a new bar area, updated decor, enhanced tap system, new air conditioning, improved sound system, and installing a booster to increase cell phone reception.
