Proving Des Moines is NOT boring

Locally Grown Pops Up

Locally Grown Clothing Co. announces the launch of a new pop-up store in the Shops at Roosevelt in Des Moines. The limited time shop will expand their current product line and offer eco-friendly and Made in the USA clothing brands; not currently available in Iowa. Open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. from now until early fall at 847 42nd Street, Des Moines. A grand opening event is scheduled for early July (date TBA).

Locally Grown Growing out of the Des Moines Farmer’s Market in 2008, owner, Fred Scott saw the increasing demand for locally-produced food and wanted to provide consumers an opportunity to express their pride and support for local agriculture, their community and the environment. Thus, Locally Grown Clothing Co. was officially launched in early 2010.

The message-driven lifestyle brand has since seen considerable growth by expanding into 33 states with more than 200 retail outlets across the country, including specialty outdoor stores, food co-ops, kids boutiques, and is frequently featured at Farmers Markets and NorthernGrade menswear pop-up markets across the country. As the demand for Locally Grown continues to see steady growth, Scott decided to jump on the modern retail trend of the pop-up shop — a successful tactic he’s seen in other metros like Minneapolis, New York City and San Francisco.

Pop-up shops offer a unique experience by selling hard-to-find products for a limited time. Scott is bringing this fresh development of pop-up retail to Des Moines, while providing consumers an alternative to mass-produced brands by giving them the opportunity to buy high-quality Made in the USA apparel. Scott also hopes the store will help garner customer feedback to gain a stronger feel for the market and help define the future direction of the brand.

The pop-up shop will introduce new Locally Grown graphic designs, menswear items and expand product offerings. Customers can expect to see all the summer essentials with a throwback vibe featuring eco-friendly and surf brands, Hari Mari and Lightning Bolt, as well products like board shorts, sunglasses, tote bags, and the popular classic Locally Grown t-shirts.

“Locally Grown captures the voice of a movement that embraces the rise of organic products and the renaissance of supporting local,” says Scott. “We are thrilled to take this movement to the next level with the pop-up shop and look forward to making more connections in the community as Des Moines gets to know the Locally Grown brand at the pop-up shop.”
